Academic background questions

Have you completed a bachelor’s degree/four-year university degree or higher degree?
Do you have 3.0 GPA or greater on a 4.0 scale (or 75% out of 100, i.e, (your GPA/School GPA X 100))?
Is your degree from life or physical sciences or humanities or social and behavioral sciences?

Life sciences:

Biology (health, human anatomy, physiology, embryology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, cellular biology, exercise physiology, kinesiology)

Chemistry (general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology/pharmacology and nuclear medicine)

Physical sciences:

Physics, biomechanics, statistics
Humanities: physical education
Social and Behavioral Sciences: psychology
Good computer knowledge

Are you proficient in written and spoken English?

Socio-cultural questions

Are you a citizen and permanent resident of Nigeria at the time of this application?
Have you ever been convicted of any crime before?
Have you applied for an immigrant visa to the United States already?

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Demonstrate themselves as emerging leaders in their chosen professional track through their work experience, volunteer experience, community activities and education.
  • Are willing to share what they have learned, be part of emerging chiropractic body in Nigeria and to be a mentor for upcoming ones.
  • Have a proven record of voluntary or public service in their communities.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of entrepreneurialism and commitment to innovation.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in exchange programs, welcome opportunities for mentoring and new partnership development, and exhibit confidence and maturity.

Selection Process

Chiropractic Scholarship Applicants are selected based on the eligibility requirements above. Applications are reviewed by independent selection committees comprising of medical leaders or experts in the related fields. Semifinalists will then be invited for one-on-one interview and the finalists still have to go through interview at United States Embassy in Nigeria.

The 2024 application is now open and will be on a rolling basis.  Applicants will be notified of the status of their application (only semi-finalist) no later than a month after application reviews.
